Support for individuals with self-esteem, body image, and depression problemsStress and anxietyLow self-esteemFamily of origin issuesGay, lesbian, bisexual, queer, and questioningTransgender, transsexual, transitioning, and genderqueerLow self-esteem and low self worth can lead you be overly critical of yourself, sabotage relationships, reject valuable opportunities, admonish yourself for mistakes or flaws, or judge and criticize those closest to you. Untreated self-esteem problems can make you susceptible to depression and anxiety issues. Nicole Marek's approach to self-esteem issues is to help you to reframe your self-perceptions, challenge irrational and unhelpful thoughts and behaviours, provide validation for your internal self worth, and train you in self-compassion in order to reduce negativity and intense emotions. You may also benefit from assertiveness training and behavioural exposure to begin taking equal space in the world. Focus will be redirected from the negative thoughts that keep you down to your unique skills and strengths. Sometimes family of origin issues will need to be explored and understood to undo the resistant feelings of low self worth.
